Types

Post-consumer rubber waste

These rubber waste components consist of materials that have completed their consumption cycle and are discarded by consumers. Examples of post-consumer rubber waste include end-of-life tyres (ELTs), footwear (soles, sandals, shoes), household rubber goods (mats, gloves, bands), sports goods, etc. This type of waste is generally contaminated with other debris, oils, paints, and metal.

Post-Industrial (Pre-Consumer) Rubber Waste

This type of waste is produced as a byproduct of industrial processes. These byproducts never reach the consumers and are generally free of any contaminants. Common post-industrial rubber waste examples are production scraps, trimmings and off-cuts, defective molded parts, flash from molding processes, etc. This type of rubber waste can be easily recycled and processed.

Vulcanized Rubber Waste

Vulcanized rubber waste consists of the rubber that has undergone the vulcanization process, i.e., chemical cross-linking to sulfur or other agents. Common vulcanized rubber waste includes tyres, conveyor belts, industrial hoses, seals, and gaskets. Vulcanized rubber is strong, elastic, and heat-resistant. It cannot be reheated like thermoplastics.
